As cases of African Swine Fever (ASF) continue to emerge in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province (Yangju, Paju, and Yeoncheon), Kim Dae-sun, Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi Province, personally inspected the ASF prevention measures at a pig farm located in Bugok-ri, Paju-eup, Paju-si on September 26.

View original imageThe farm visited raises 852 pigs. Deputy Governor Kim closely examined the farm's disinfection facilities and the enforcement of access control measures, and discussed possible improvements related to disease prevention with the farm owner.
Kim Dae-sun, Deputy Governor for Administration, emphasized, "Preventing African Swine Fever requires strict access control as well as thorough disinfection of both the interior and exterior of farms, including people and vehicles." He urged, "During the Chuseok holiday, it is essential for farms to restrict access to outsiders and to immediately report any suspected cases."
Gyeonggi Province plans to operate its Livestock Disease Control Headquarters 24 hours a day throughout the Chuseok holiday, maintaining a constant state of readiness and making every effort to strengthen disease prevention at livestock farms and block the spread of ASF.

Meanwhile, a total of five cases of African Swine Fever have occurred in the northern region of Gyeonggi Province this year: one case in Yeoncheon on September 14, one case in Paju on July 16, and three cases in Yangju on January 20, January 28, and March 16.
