Taebaek City to Hold 'Taebaeksan Cheonje Dance Challenge' for National Foundation Day
Promoting the Traditional Ritual "Cheonje"
Through an SNS-Based Participatory Event
Taebaek City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Lee Sangho) announced on September 26 that it will host the SNS-based participatory event, the 'Taebaeksan Cheonje Dance Challenge,' to widely promote the traditional ritual event 'Cheonje,' which will be held on Taebaeksan Mountain on October 3 in celebration of National Foundation Day.
Participants can join the challenge by filming themselves following the choreography performed by Taebaek City's official character, Taeboomi, and uploading the video to their personal SNS accounts. To enter, participants must use the hashtags '#TaebaekCity' and '#GaecheonjeolTaebaekCheonjeChallenge,' post their video, and then fill out and submit the Naver Form link provided by Taebaek City.
Demonstration dance videos, participation instructions, and event details can be found on Taebaek City's official Instagram and Facebook pages. Notably, the choreography for this event was created with the direct involvement of Taebaek City officials, making it especially approachable and enjoyable for citizens.
The city expects broad participation not only from hikers visiting Taebaeksan Mountain, but also from tourists enjoying autumn trips and visitors from across the country who are interested in traditional culture.
The participation period runs until October 12, and ten winners will be selected by lottery from among the entrants to receive a 10,000 won mobile gift certificate.
