Shin Junghoon Accelerates Push for Rural Basic Income Act Legislation
Tour Meetings Held in Gurye and Gangjin with Lawmaker Yong Hyein
Shin Junghoon, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea representing Naju and Hwasun in South Jeolla Province, announced on September 26 that he will hold the "Rural Legislative Basic Income Tour Meeting" together with Yong Hyein, a proportional representative lawmaker from the Basic Income Party, at Gurye Seomjin Art Hall and Gangjin Agricultural Technology Center on September 26 and 27.
This meeting has been organized to share and expand public discussion on the recently proposed Rural Basic Income Act at the local level. Shin Junghoon and Yong Hyein jointly proposed the Rural Basic Income Act on August 26. On September 12, the "Rural Basic Income Legislative Promotion Coalition" was launched at the National Assembly, with the participation of civic and farmers' organizations such as the Basic Income Korea Network, the National Alliance for the Rural Basic Income Movement, the Basic Society Corporation, and the National Federation of Fishermen's Associations.
During this meeting, participants aim to deepen understanding of the Rural Basic Income Act, activate public discussion on rural basic income, and explore directions for its full implementation.

Shin emphasized, "Rural basic income is not simply a welfare policy, but a system that safeguards the sustainability of rural areas and supports balanced national development," adding, "We will work together with local residents to ensure the bill is passed."
