Kim Dongyeon's Bold AI Initiative in China: Promoting Stronger Cooperation Between Pangyo and Shanghai
On the 25th, Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon visited the Shanghai branch of Tencent Cloud, the largest internet company in China, and proposed strengthening cooperation with Pangyo in Gyeonggi Province.
Governor Kim stated, "I visited Tencent Cloud to create more business opportunities for companies in Gyeonggi Province," adding, "I hope to see active exchanges between Gyeonggi-based companies and Tencent Cloud."
The business leaders who accompanied Governor Kim to Tencent Cloud included the CEOs, vice presidents, or chief technology officers (CTOs) of NHN Cloud, Megazone Cloud, Hancom, AI Works, Hypernology, and Initech.
NHN Cloud operates the national data center and is a key partner for Chinese AI companies seeking to enter the Korean market. Megazone Cloud, the first unicorn in the cloud sector, is working to expand its presence in China. Hancom, a pioneer in South Korea's software industry, has launched the AI assistant 'Hancom Assistant' and is transforming into a company that integrates AI, cloud, and robotics. AI Works is a top-tier company in the AI data sector, while Hypernology specializes in industrial AI vision, such as precision inspection in manufacturing and logistics. Initech is a security authentication solutions company that primarily focuses on detecting abnormal behavior using AI.

Governor Kim pledged, "The newly launched government of national sovereignty has set a goal of becoming one of the top three AI powers," and added, "Gyeonggi Province, which established the nation's first 'AI State,' will take the lead in driving Korea toward becoming an AI powerhouse."
