This forum was organized to present the major achievements of the Gangwon AI Healthcare Global Innovation Regulatory Free Zone, share domestic and international trends in the AI healthcare sector, and strengthen exchanges between overseas partner institutions and local project operators.

The forum consisted of two parts: a commemorative ceremony and a global forum.

Over 100 participants attended the commemorative ceremony, including Yeo Junghyup, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gangwon Province, Tanel Sepp, Ambassador-designate of Estonia to Korea, representatives from institutions and hospitals related to AI healthcare, and project operators in the free zone.

In the first part, attendees watched an introductory video about the Gangwon AI Healthcare Global Innovation Regulatory Free Zone, followed by a presentation on the zone’s key achievements by Yoon Wantae, Head of Future Business at Gangwon Technopark. Kang Sungji, CEO of Welt, then delivered a keynote speech on "The Future of Medical Artificial Intelligence."

The second part of the forum featured two sessions.

In the first session, overseas institutions collaborating with the Gangwon free zone presented on the overseas demonstration effects of Gangwon AI healthcare solutions, cases of technological cooperation, and strategies for entering foreign markets.

Rainis Kolga, Chief Digital Officer at Tartu University Hospital in Estonia, explained the effects of introducing Gangwon AI healthcare solutions. Mark Bartlett, CEO of Storegene in the United Kingdom, gave a lecture on building genome technology cooperation services with free zone companies under the theme of the "Global Genome Project."

As further examples of AI healthcare innovation, Professor Jeon Jinpyeong of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, a participating project operator, explained AI-based telemedicine, while Park Seongbin, Professor at Wonju Severance Christian Hospital, presented on the decentralized clinical trial platform.

The second session featured lectures on clinical strategies and global trends for entering the AI healthcare market, with a wide range of topics discussed across the AI healthcare sector.

The province plans to use this forum to strengthen the global AI healthcare network, further identify overseas demonstration sites, and expand local demonstration projects. In addition, by building cooperative systems with participating institutions, the province expects to lay the groundwork for local companies to enter overseas markets.

Yeo Junghyup, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "Since being designated as a global innovation free zone, project operators and overseas institutions have consistently engaged in joint research and cooperation over the past year. Moving forward, we will actively support the overseas expansion of project operators based on the achievements of the AI healthcare global innovation free zone."
