Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will conduct a variety of campaigns to promote a culture of respect for pregnant women for one month, from September 25 to October 24, in commemoration of ‘Pregnant Women’s Day’ (October 10).
‘Pregnant Women’s Day’ is a legally designated commemorative day established to encourage society as a whole to recognize the importance of pregnancy and childbirth, and to foster a social atmosphere that is considerate toward pregnant women.
This year, the Gijang County Public Health Center is holding the campaign under the theme ‘A Happy Mom, Here in Gijang.’ The main programs include: ▲ a one-day lecture commemorating ‘Pregnant Women’s Day’ ▲ inspections of service providers for maternal and newborn health management ▲ strengthened nutritional support for pregnant women ▲ a registration event for a smoking cessation clinic for expectant fathers ▲ and a walking challenge to support pregnant women.
This campaign aims to share the value of pregnancy and childbirth with the residents and to emphasize the importance of the entire community working together for the happiness of pregnant women.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, “I hope this campaign will serve as an opportunity to strengthen a birth-friendly environment,” and added, “We will actively support making Gijang a city where the happiness of pregnant women is respected and where it is a great place to raise children.”
