Kim Dongyeon on China Trip: "Lee Jaemyung Administration Normalizing Diplomacy... Gyeonggi Province Will Actively Support"
Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "With the inauguration of the Lee Jaemyung administration, South Korea's diplomacy is being normalized," adding, "Gyeonggi Province will support this through public diplomacy."
On September 24, Governor Kim visited the Korean Liberation Army General Headquarters in Chongqing, China, toured the exhibition hall and workspaces, and remarked, "I believe the greatest significance of this Chongqing agreement lies in Gyeonggi Province supporting the normalization of diplomacy through public diplomacy." He added, "This agreement represents Gyeonggi Province's support for the normalization of diplomacy through public diplomacy."
He further stated, "The Chongqing agreement is meaningful in that it has expanded Gyeonggi Province's economic horizon to nine provinces and cities in China. In particular, we held very concrete discussions, including on artificial intelligence, and together with the companies that accompanied us, we will open a new chapter of economic cooperation between Korea and China, as well as between Gyeonggi Province and Chongqing."

The Korean Liberation Army was organized with a General Headquarters in Chongqing and three regional units (Chongqing, Xi'an, and Fuyang in Anhui Province). The General Headquarters building was discovered in 1991 by the Liberation Army Heritage Investigation Team, but was later demolished due to safety concerns. At the Korea-China summit in 2017, President Moon Jaein requested its prompt restoration, and the building was restored and reopened in March 2019.
