"Protecting Children's Safety"... Bucheon City Strengthens Public Promotion of CCTV Emergency Bells
Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 24th that it will strengthen promotional efforts for the use of the 'Security CCTV Emergency Bell' to ensure citizen safety, in response to a series of attempted elementary school student abductions that have recently occurred in other regions.
Across Bucheon, a total of 8,799 security CCTV cameras are installed at 2,227 locations, resulting in a high installation density of approximately 165 cameras per square kilometer. All CCTV cameras are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at the Integrated Control Center, and emergency bells are installed at 1,859 of these locations.
The emergency bells are installed in everyday spaces frequently used by citizens, such as alleys, parks, and areas around schools. In the event of an emergency, pressing the emergency bell immediately connects to the CCTV Integrated Control Center, where monitoring staff can check the scene in real time and promptly report to the police, enabling an immediate initial response.
To make the locations and usage of the emergency bells easy to understand, the city will distribute informational leaflets to students, parents, and teachers in cooperation with the Office of Education and the police station, and will include related information in school safety education programs.
In addition, the city plans to strengthen online promotions through its official website, YouTube, and social networking services (SNS). At the Smart City Integrated Operation Center, which is scheduled to open this December, students will also be given the opportunity to experience the emergency bell system through field trip programs.
