Daejeon Technopark Urges Caution Against Employee Impersonation with Forged Business Cards and Fake Contracts
"If you deliver the goods first, payment will be made later"
A scam attempt has occurred in which individuals impersonated employees of the Daejeon Technopark Foundation, using forged business cards and fake contracts, and proposed to pay for goods after delivery.
In response, Daejeon Technopark has urged citizens, supported companies, and partner organizations to exercise particular caution.
The impersonators posed as foundation staff, meticulously forging business cards, purchase contracts, order forms, and official seals. They attempted to arrange a proxy purchase of goods worth 60 million won, claiming that payment would be made after the goods were delivered.
Daejeon Technopark explained that while similar impersonation attempts have occurred sporadically in the past, this is the first time such a sophisticated and bold crime involving tens of millions of won has been confirmed.
The targeted company was able to avoid losses by verifying the facts before delivery. However, the foundation has classified this incident as a 'serious threat level' and has begun strengthening its response measures to prevent recurrence.
Daejeon Technopark stated that it cannot rule out the possibility of similar crimes happening again. The foundation plans to strengthen guidance and preventive activities through official channels, reinforce its rapid response system, and make every effort to block further damage.
Daejeon Technopark emphasized that ▲ there will never be any requests for money or goods under the pretext of advance payment or post-settlement, and ▲ all contracts are conducted only through the departments listed in public bidding announcements or on the foundation's official website.
They also urged that, if anyone receives a suspicious contact, they should immediately verify its authenticity through the foundation's main phone number, report it to the audit office or police, and register the number in a caller identification app to prevent additional harm.
