ABO Plasma Introduces New Personalized Plasma Collection Technology for Donors
Average Plasma Collection Volume per Session Increases by Over 8%
Green Cross Corporation announced on September 24 that its U.S. subsidiary, ABO Plasma, has introduced a new technology that can simultaneously enhance plasma collection efficiency and donor safety.
This new technology advances beyond the traditional weight-based plasma collection method by adopting a personalized approach that incorporates health indicators such as the donor's body mass index (BMI) and hematocrit levels. As a result, plasma can now be collected in a way that is tailored to each donor's physical condition.
In particular, this technology reduces the burden caused by excessive plasma collection and allows for an appropriate increase in collection volume when necessary, thereby providing a more reasonable donation environment.
In practice, there have been cases where donors with high hematocrit levels experienced a decrease in plasma extraction volume compared to before, while others saw an increase in collection volume based on the new criteria. The company reported that, while maintaining donor safety, it improved efficiency, resulting in an average increase of more than 8% in plasma collected per session.
Additionally, this system provides donors with information about their key health indicators, which is expected to contribute to better personal health management and faster recovery.
ABO Plasma has fully implemented this technology across all of its operating plasma centers.
Heo Euncheol, CEO of Green Cross Corporation, stated, "The introduction of this technology will provide a better experience for donors and, at the same time, enhance the structural efficiency of our plasma business, strengthening our global competitiveness."
