Yeongwol County to Host 33rd Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Residents' Sports for All Festival from September 26
A Festival for All Blending Sports and Culture
The 33rd Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Residents' Sports for All Festival, a major celebration for sports enthusiasts in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, will be held for three days from September 26 to 28 at the Donggang riverside area in Yeongwol County.
This event will bring together approximately 8,300 athletes and officials from 18 cities and counties in the province, who will compete in 28 disciplines including track and field, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and park golf. The festival is expected to become a venue for friendly competition and unity, not only for residents of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province but also for all visitors to enjoy together.
In particular, the opening ceremony, which will take place at 5 p.m. on September 26 at the Donggang riverside, is set to be a highlight event that all athletes and spectators can enjoy together. The program will begin with a cultural performance, followed by the athletes' parade, an official declaration of the opening, welcome remarks, and congratulatory speeches. Afterwards, a celebratory performance by a popular singer and a large-scale drone light show, among various other programs, will create a festive atmosphere blending sports and culture for everyone.
As the host, Yeongwol County has completed comprehensive preparations to warmly welcome participants and visitors, ensuring a safe and convenient environment, including transportation, accommodation, and amenities.
