Daejeon Design Promotion Agency Signs MOU for Design and Defense Industry Convergence
Collaboration with the Army Logistics School Ordnance Training Battalion
An agreement has been reached to combine Daejeon's outstanding defense industry technology infrastructure with its design innovation capabilities in order to drive innovation and take a leading role in the future defense and military logistics sectors.
On September 23, the Daejeon Design Promotion Agency (President Lee Changki) and the Army Logistics School Ordnance Training Battalion (Commander Ahn Byungchul) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for collaboration in the convergence of design and the defense industry.
Through this agreement, the two organizations will pursue: ▲ collaboration on user experience (UX)-based education for military logistics equipment; ▲ practical education and exchange on design utilizing artificial intelligence (AI); ▲ joint research for the convergence of defense products and design; ▲ dissemination and expansion of advanced personal protective equipment technologies; and ▲ academic exchange in the fields of combat development and design.
Daejeon is home to the nation's top-level defense research and development (R&D) infrastructure, including the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Agency for Defense Development (ADD), Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTaQ), and the Defense AI Center.
Building on this infrastructure, the agency is conducting empirical research on defense industry-design convergence strategies to foster new growth industries, while also developing future concept designs that apply user experience (UX)-centered design strategies.
In particular, the Army Logistics School Ordnance Training Battalion is a key institution responsible for advanced military logistics equipment education and the development of weapon systems. Through this agreement, it is expected to introduce design thinking and innovative approaches into its educational programs, thereby enhancing not only the effectiveness of education but also strengthening military combat capabilities.
Furthermore, the Ordnance Training Battalion plans to lead substantial changes across the defense industry through its expertise in military logistics and collaboration with the agency.
This agreement goes beyond simple cooperation, signifying the establishment of a strategic base to foster Daejeon as a design-driven defense industry innovation hub.
Discovering new businesses and pursuing empirical, project-based initiatives through the convergence of the defense industry and design will enhance the design capabilities of local defense companies and lay the foundation for building a Daejeon-style defense and design industry cluster, making this agreement highly significant.
