Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced on the 23rd that it plans to provide 2,161.55 million won in recovery funds to support the management stability of fruit farms that suffered damage from abnormal low temperatures in March and April this year.
This measure was taken in response to significant damage to the growth of fruit crops such as plums, pears, and peaches caused by the abnormal cold weather in the spring of this year. The damage has been tallied at 1,177 farms, covering an area of 609.7 hectares.
The city will provide 3 million won per hectare for fruit crops as pesticide support to affected farms. In addition, depending on the damage rate at each farm, the city will offer further support such as deferral of agricultural policy fund repayments and disaster management funds, to help ensure a swift recovery.
