In particular, the association revisited six issues that had been repeatedly proposed to Gyeonggi Province but not yet accepted, including the adjustment of city and county financial burdens for the Gyeonggi-do city bus public management system and improvements to the penalty calculation method for standard personnel expenses in local governments.
The participants also agreed to request prompt improvements from both Gyeonggi Province and the central government in order to enhance the poor financial conditions of cities and counties and to resolve financial disadvantages caused by unreasonable systems.
Additionally, the association issued a joint statement strongly condemning the recent assault on a local government head. The association emphasized that this incident was not merely a crime against an individual, but a threat to all public officials and an act that undermines the foundation of local autonomy. The statement called for a thorough investigation and strict enforcement of the law, the establishment of institutional measures to prevent recurrence, and reaffirmed the association's firm principle of resolute response.
Through this statement, the association reiterated its collective commitment to not tolerate any acts of violence that threaten the foundation of local autonomy.
Chairman Joo Gwangdeok stated, "The issues discussed at today's meeting are crucial, not only for realizing local autonomy but also for directly impacting the lives of residents. All 31 cities and counties will join forces to develop practical alternatives and actively propose them to the provincial and central governments."
