The survey results showed that 71.2% of respondents answered "satisfied," the highest proportion, while 21.4% responded "average," indicating that more than 9 out of 10 residents are highly satisfied with Hwacheon County's "Making Hwacheon the Best Place to Raise Children" policy.
In the 2022 social survey, the satisfaction rate for the same category was 59.4%, and the "average" response rate was 30.8%, resulting in an average or higher satisfaction rate of 91.2% at that time.
This means that the proportion of "satisfied" responses increased by 11.8 percentage points over two years.
The dissatisfaction rate decreased from 9.8% in 2022 to 7.4% in 2024.
By age group, the highest satisfaction rate was among those aged 70 and older (78.8%), followed by those in their 40s (74.1%) and those in their 60s (73.1%).
This suggests that residents who are about to get married, have children in the stages of childbirth and childcare, or have children who are elementary, middle, high school, or university students, tend to show high levels of satisfaction.
Over the past two years, Hwacheon County became the first local government in the nation to establish Hwacheon Community Center, an all-day care facility for elementary students, and is currently building a similar educational community facility in Sachang-ri, Sannae-myeon.
In addition, the county has significantly expanded opportunities for overseas language and backpacking programs for elementary, middle, and high school students, and has continued policies to fully cover four years of university tuition and provide up to 500,000 won per month in living expenses for university students.
The public postpartum care center operated by Hwacheon County also offers a full two-week fee waiver for residents who have lived in the county for more than a year.
Choi Moonsun, Mayor of Hwacheon County, stated, "We will continue to provide essential support from the moment a mother becomes pregnant until her child graduates from university."
