KSD Sharing Foundation Supports Chuseok Traditional Market Shopping Event for the Underprivileged
On September 19, the KSD Sharing Foundation of the Korea Securities Depository (Chairman Lee Sunho) delivered 33 million won in sponsorship funds to the Seoul Metropolitan Chapter of the Korean Red Cross (President Kwon Younggyu) at its Seoul headquarters to support a traditional market shopping event for the underprivileged ahead of Chuseok.
This sponsorship aims to provide Chuseok shopping expenses (150,000 won in Onnuri gift certificates per household) to 220 socially disadvantaged households in Seoul, including elderly people living alone and grandparent-grandchild families, and to help revitalize traditional markets and the local economy.
The traditional market shopping event will be held at 13 traditional markets in Seoul, selected with consideration for the mobility of the beneficiaries, before Chuseok. Volunteers from the Korean Red Cross will assist each recipient one-on-one with their shopping.
The Korea Securities Depository and the KSD Sharing Foundation have been supporting traditional market shopping events for the underprivileged since 2011, holding the event in Busan during the Lunar New Year and in Seoul during Chuseok.
This social contribution activity is designed to share warmth with neighbors in need during the holiday season and to realize the value of a society where people live together by contributing to the revitalization of traditional markets. A cumulative total of approximately 720 million won in sponsorship funds has been provided to over 5,800 households.
