The Gyeongsang National University Busan Animal Hospital will be established under a Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) public-private partnership model, with Gyeongsang National University constructing and operating the facility on land donated by Dongmyung University. The site covers 13,300 square meters, with a total floor area of 9,213 square meters, comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors-making it the largest animal hospital in the country, 1.6 times the size of the Seoul National University College of Veterinary Medicine Animal Hospital.

The facility will include an emergency care center, radiology center, and general consultation rooms on the first floor; internal medicine consultation rooms on the second floor; surgical and other surgical care facilities on the third floor; research and educational facilities on the fourth floor; and a radiation therapy center in the basement. It will also serve as a hub for supporting employment and entrepreneurship in collaboration with local university companion animal departments, and for driving industrial development in areas such as companion animal healthcare.

This project has been pursued based on a business agreement signed in 2022 by Busan Metropolitan Government, Gyeongsang National University, and Dongmyung University. Dongmyung University is providing the site, Gyeongsang National University is responsible for construction and operation, and Busan Metropolitan Government is supporting administrative procedures and policy development. After a feasibility study, securing national funding, executing the implementation agreement, making and announcing urban management plan decisions, and obtaining construction permits, the project has now reached the groundbreaking stage. Completion is targeted for June 2027.

Mayor Park Heongjoon stated, "The Gyeongsang National University Busan Animal Hospital will serve as a central hospital providing high-quality medical services in response to the growing demand for companion animal healthcare in the Busan and Gyeongnam regions, and as an essential infrastructure for nurturing the industry. We will make the promotion of companion animal welfare and industry development a future growth strategy, creating a city where people and animals can live happily together."
