View original imageThis reward was established to encourage Kim Junghyun’s efforts, who demonstrated outstanding performance on the international stage and claimed victory on August 25, and to inspire local youth to develop a spirit of challenge and pursue their dreams. The city provides rewards to winners of professional sports competitions and continues to support the development of outstanding athletic talent.
Kim Junghyun is currently a third-grade student at Dasan Saebom Elementary School and is also an apprentice at the main branch of the Korea Baduk Association. He has distinguished himself in national competitions, winning titles such as the President’s Cup National Dan Players Tournament and the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s National Student Baduk Tournament. In this championship, he reached the top of the world by winning the Junior Division (U-12), which featured participants from 12 countries.
The award ceremony was attended by Kim Junghyun and his father, Yoon Sunghyun, president of the Namyangju City Sports Council, Choi Hyunseok, vice president of the Namyangju City Baduk Association, and Kwon Opoong, executive director. Mayor Joo Gwangdeok personally presented the reward to Kim, offering warm encouragement and congratulations.
