DS Danseok Obtains Patent for Waste Oil Processing System
DS Danseok, a company specializing in resource circulation energy, announced on the 18th that it has obtained a patent related to a "waste oil processing system."
The patent concerns an "automated system for recovering high-purity waste oil from used cooking oil cans and continuously separating and sorting scrap metal and foreign substances." The company has automated the refining process to use waste cooking oil supplied in cans as a raw material for bioenergy.
Typically, waste cooking oil generated by restaurants is disposed of in cans. To convert this into raw material, the cans must be fed into a refining process. Conventional refining processes require additional labor during input, and simply pressing the cans to extract the waste oil results in a relatively low recovery rate. It is also difficult to handle foreign substances and can scrap.
To address these issues and improve process efficiency, DS Danseok developed its own technology. After filing for a patent in 2022, the company obtained the patent this year.
DS Danseok's waste oil processing system is a smart process that incorporates: ▲ an automated process using robots, reducing simple operational labor to one-third of previous levels; ▲ increased recovery rate and purity of waste cooking oil through can crushing, filtration, and heating technologies; ▲ optimized energy use through improved heating methods; and ▲ efficient separation and sorting of waste and recyclable resources (such as iron scrap and plastics) generated during the process.
A DS Danseok representative stated, "This patented system can process 80,000 tons of waste cooking oil annually," and added, "Since the technology was developed, it has been applied and operated on the production line since 2023." The representative continued, "We are the first in Korea to complete everything from process introduction to patent acquisition, and we will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of our bioenergy business, including expanding our production bases."
