Arrest Warrant Under Consideration Following Investigation
A man has been urgently arrested for damaging a section of the stone wall at Jongmyo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul announced on September 17 that, at approximately 12:50 a.m. on September 15, they urgently apprehended a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of violating the Cultural Heritage Protection Act by damaging 10 roof tiles on the outer wall of Jongmyo Shrine.
A total of 10 roof tiles were damaged, consisting of five convex tiles and five concave tiles. The damaged tiles have already been repaired.
The Jongmyo Management Office discovered the damage during a dawn patrol and reported it to the police.
The police identified the suspect's appearance and tracked his movements, ultimately apprehending Mr. A.
