View original imagePredictive maintenance refers to maintenance that anticipates when aircraft components or systems may develop defects, allowing for proactive measures before failures occur. By performing maintenance at the optimal time, it reduces both the time and cost required. This contributes to maintaining a high on-time operation rate by decreasing the number of delays and cancellations caused by aircraft defects.
The two companies have agreed to jointly carry out projects related to predictive maintenance, research and develop advanced predictive maintenance methodologies, and collaborate to apply these innovations to actual maintenance operations.
This collaboration was initiated to reduce potential defects in aircraft and enhance aircraft reliability. Korean Air plans to strengthen its predictive maintenance capabilities to improve maintenance efficiency and contribute to safe operations.
In August 2023, Korean Air established a predictive maintenance team under its Maintenance Division and has since been applying its self-developed predictive maintenance operation solution to actual aircraft maintenance.
