US Secretary of State: "Deporting Foreigners Who Celebrate Kirk's Death... Visa Cancellations Underway"
Toward Foreigners Celebrating Kirk's Death
"Visa Cancellations and Denials of Visa Issuance"
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State under the Donald Trump administration, announced that he is initiating procedures to deport foreigners who have expressed joy over the death of Charlie Kirk.
On September 15 (local time), Secretary Rubio stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "The United States will not welcome foreigners who celebrate the death of our fellow citizens."
Secretary Rubio warned, "Visa cancellations are underway. If you have obtained a visa and are here cheering for the public assassination of a political figure, be prepared to be deported. You are not welcome in this country."
On the same day, in an interview with Fox News, Secretary Rubio also said that the visas of foreigners celebrating Kirk's death through social networking services (SNS) would be canceled, and visa issuance would be restricted.
He stated, "A visa means you are a visitor to the United States. We have no intention of inviting people who will engage in negative and destructive behavior into our country."
He added, "We should not grant visas to people who come to the United States and engage in acts such as celebrating the killing, execution, or assassination of political figures. If they are already here, we must cancel their visas."
Previously, on September 10, Kirk was shot and killed while giving a speech at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Key figures from the Donald Trump administration and MAGA supporters have defined the killing of Kirk-a young activist with significant influence in right-wing circles-as the work of 'left-wing extremists.' They have also suggested retaliation against those who responded positively to Kirk's death.
