Hollywood star Robert Redford has passed away at the age of 89.

According to the New York Times on September 16 (local time), Redford died at his home in Utah. However, the specific cause of Redford's death has not been disclosed.

Redford had a long career in Hollywood as both an actor and a director. He appeared in films such as "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Out of Africa," "The Sting," "Up Close & Personal," and "A River Runs Through It."

He won the Oscar for Best Director in 1980 for "Ordinary People," and received the Academy Honorary Award in 2002. In addition, he was an advocate for environmental protection and, as the founder and director of the Sundance Film Festival, promoted the independent film movement.
