On the 16th, the county announced that it had successfully completed this year's harvest, confirming the potential of apple mangoes as a new income-generating crop.
Since 2019, the county has invested approximately 1.6 billion won over seven years to pilot the introduction of various subtropical crops, including apple mangoes. Currently, apple mangoes are being cultivated at six locations, covering a total area of 1.3 hectares. Thanks to their high sugar content and quality, they have been well received by consumers.
The harvested apple mangoes are being sold through the online shopping mall 'Matteul Muan Mall,' and a special 30% discount event will be held from September 22 to 25 in celebration of Chuseok. The county expects this event to both expand sales channels and reduce the financial burden on consumers.
In addition, Muan is also fostering various other subtropical crops such as subtropical vegetables, lemons, and cherries. The county plans to continuously expand the range of crops and cultivation areas to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture and diversify farmers' income sources.
