This meeting was organized to discuss strategies for developing BJFEZ into a logistics hub in Northeast Asia and a global maritime strategic base, in line with the Lee Jaemyung administration’s national agenda focused on maritime and logistics sectors.

The government is advancing several national projects, including the relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan, the development of Arctic shipping routes, the completion of a tri-port system integrating ports, aviation, and railways, the relocation of shipping company headquarters, and the establishment of integrated logistics infrastructure. In response, the Free Zone Authority is working to enhance eco-friendly and advanced logistics, expand digital infrastructure, and create a high value-added integrated logistics hub.

The Task Force consists of 11 members from industry, academia, research institutes, and government, forming a collaborative network. Major logistics companies such as LX Pantos, Hyundai Glovis, Dongbang Logistics Center, Busan New Port Company, and Dongwon Global Terminal Busan are participating, along with research institutions like Busan Institute, Gyeongnam Research Institute, Korea Maritime Institute, and professors from local universities.

During the meeting, Jang Hayong, Director at Busan Institute, delivered a presentation on "The Era of Arctic Shipping Routes and Global Logistics Strategy," followed by in-depth discussions on strategies for connecting ports and the new airport to respond to Arctic shipping routes, and plans for establishing advanced and integrated logistics hubs.

Through the operation of the Logistics Innovation Task Force, the Free Zone Authority aims to identify and achieve specific objectives such as maximizing the effects of relocating the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Busan, building an integrated logistics system based on the tri-port model, and creating an eco-friendly and smart logistics ecosystem, ultimately establishing BJFEZ as a global hub for maritime and logistics industries.

Commissioner Park Sungho stated, "The Global Logistics Innovation Task Force has been launched not merely as an advisory body, but as a practical platform for strategic proposals and policy implementation. Through this, we will contribute to the innovation of the regional logistics industry and the enhancement of national logistics competitiveness."
