To this end, Jeollanam-do has secured a project budget of 810 million won this year (200 million won from the province and 600 million won from cities and counties) to support approximately 4,500 pesticide residue tests, focusing on items that require inspection before eco-friendly agricultural products are distributed to the market. Each test will be subsidized with 180,000 won.
The decision to strengthen pesticide residue inspections is intended to raise awareness among farmers about compliance with certification standards and to provide consumers with reliable eco-friendly agricultural products.
Pesticide residue inspections for eco-friendly agricultural products are conducted by city and county governments, the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service, and private testing (analysis) agencies, targeting certified products produced at eco-friendly agricultural practice complexes or farms.
In particular, the province will prioritize pesticide residue analysis before shipment for farms supplying certified products to high-demand food service providers in the Seoul metropolitan area, as well as farms participating in public eco-friendly rice procurement, ensuring that only products meeting standards are shipped.
For farms found to have violated certification standards based on pesticide residue inspection results, the province will impose measures such as recovering subsidies related to eco-friendly agriculture support and restricting participation in projects for the following year.
