According to Sejong City on September 15, the first regular joint public-private meeting was held to develop the comprehensive plan for fostering the startup and venture ecosystem.
On August 27, the city formed a joint public-private task force and held a preliminary meeting to discuss the operation plan and future activities. The task force is co-chaired by Lee Seungwon, Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs, and Kim Jindong, Chairman of the Sejong Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It consists of representatives from businesses, private sector experts, the city’s economic departments, Sejong Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, universities, and policy institutions.
During the first regular meeting, each committee member presented specific strategic tasks for fostering the local startup and venture ecosystem, followed by a comprehensive discussion.
In particular, the meeting focused on detailing implementation plans tailored to Sejong City’s characteristics, centering on five key strategies: establishing a foundation for the startup and venture ecosystem; building a startup funding and investment environment; nurturing entrepreneurial talent and spreading startup culture; discovering and growing technology startups; and expanding government-linked projects and global outreach.
Going forward, the city plans to hold regular meetings twice a month to discuss concrete implementation tasks, with the goal of finalizing and announcing the comprehensive plan in December 2025. In addition, the results of the “Venture Startup Ecosystem Fostering Strategy (Draft)” study, currently being conducted by Sejong Technopark and scheduled for completion in November, will be incorporated into the comprehensive plan.
