Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance Launches Index-Based Departure Flight Delay Coverage Rider
Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance announced on the 15th that it has newly launched an index-based departure flight delay coverage rider for its Direct Overseas Travel Insurance product.
The index-based departure flight delay coverage rider provides a fixed insurance payout ranging from a minimum of 40,000 won to a maximum of 100,000 won, proportional to the delay time, when an international flight departing from South Korea is delayed or canceled for more than two hours.
Previously, customers were required to submit receipts (for food, beverages, and convenience facilities within the airport) as supporting documents when flights were delayed. However, with the index-based rider, customers can conveniently receive insurance payouts with just their flight ticket (e-ticket).
Customers who enroll in this rider can simply register their flight via the notification message sent by Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance and receive guidance on delay notifications and insurance claims through the same notification message.
In addition to delay coverage, Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance's Direct Overseas Travel Insurance also covers overseas medical expenses, damage or theft of personal belongings, and passport reissuance costs. The insurance premiums are on average 59% lower than offline options, and customers can freely choose from basic to premium plans. When enrolling with family or friends, an additional 10% discount is offered, and up to 20 people, including the policyholder, can be insured at once.
The company also provides a 'Korean Language Assistance Service,' which offers 24/7 consultation in Korean for medical emergencies or travel-related assistance while abroad.
A representative from Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance stated, "This new rider was launched to conveniently provide coverage for unexpected flight delays at the very start of an overseas trip."
