Ulju County in Ulsan has been finally selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's "2026 Green Belt Resident Support Project," securing 3.44 billion won in national funding.
The Green Belt Resident Support Project is an annual initiative supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport since 2001, in accordance with the Special Act on the Designation and Management of Green Belts. Its purpose is to enhance the convenience and welfare of residents by expanding basic living infrastructure, thereby improving living conditions and revitalizing the local economy.
This year, Ulju County had three projects selected: the Daewoonsan Healing Leisure Green Space Development Project, the Onggijonggi Sanchaek(Book) Leisure Green Space Development Project, and the Cheongnyang Yangdong Village Agricultural Support Complex Center Construction Project.
The "Daewoonsan Healing Leisure Green Space Development Project" will be carried out in connection with last year's selected Daewoonsan Leisure Green Space Development Project. The goal is to develop the Daewoonsan area, including the Healing Forest and Daewoon Stream, into a nationally recognized healing destination by utilizing its natural scenery.
The "Onggijonggi Sanchaek(Book) Leisure Green Space Development Project" will be linked with the Onggijonggi Library to create a complex healing space where residents can simultaneously enjoy culture, nature, and relaxation.
Additionally, the "Cheongnyang Yangdong Village Agricultural Support Complex Center Construction Project" will be implemented as part of the incentive program for the relocation of the Okdong military base. By expanding agricultural infrastructure, this facility will serve as a hub to improve the work efficiency of farmers and support the distribution and processing of local agricultural products.
An official from Ulju County stated, "Through this project, we will resolve inconveniences for residents within the green belt and simultaneously expand eco-friendly green spaces and living infrastructure that reflect the unique characteristics of our region. We will continue our efforts to increase resident satisfaction and promote balanced regional development in the future."
