Police Conduct Preliminary Crime Prevention Assessment Ahead of Hangang Bus Launch
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and the Seoul Autonomous Police Committee announced on September 14 that they conducted a preliminary crime prevention assessment at seven docks-Yeouido, Magok, Mangwon, Apgujeong, Oksu, Ttukseom, and Jamsil-ahead of the official launch of the 'Hangang Bus' service on September 18.
To ensure that citizens can use the Hangang Bus with peace of mind, the police introduced CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) techniques and used drones to inspect areas connecting to subway, city bus, and village bus routes.
The main inspection items included: ▲ the installation status and operation of CCTV cameras and emergency bells ▲ nighttime lighting and the presence of blind spots ▲ and the organization of routes to maintain order at the docks.
Based on the findings of this assessment, the police plan to continuously improve facilities that require upgrades in cooperation with relevant agencies, and will continue regular inspections even after the official launch of the service.
