Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member Baek Janghan Calls for Production and Supply of Effective Microorganisms
"Improving Residents' Living Environment and Creating a Pleasant Urban Setting"
Janghan Baek, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, announced on September 12 that the ordinance bill on the production and supply of effective microorganisms in Gwangju Seo-gu, which he proposed during the 333rd extraordinary session, passed the relevant standing committee on the same day.
The purpose of this ordinance is to systematically produce and supply effective microorganisms (EM, Effective Micro-organisms) in order to improve residents' living environments and create a pleasant urban setting.
The background for enacting this ordinance lies in the need to address living environment issues faced by residents. Seo-gu has been tasked with resolving challenges such as odors generated during the processing of food waste, water pollution caused by domestic wastewater, and demands for improvements in residential conditions.
Effective microorganisms have been proven to be highly effective in eliminating odors, purifying water, and improving soil quality by generating antioxidants during the fermentation process. The ordinance aims to provide institutional support so that residents can receive tangible benefits from these effects.
Baek stated, "Environmental issues are directly linked to the lives of residents," and added, "I will work to ensure that this ordinance goes beyond regulations on paper and becomes a policy that brings real, perceptible changes for the community."
