S-Oil has delivered a condolence payment to the family of a Coast Guard officer who died in the line of duty during a tidal flat rescue mission.

View original imageS-Oil announced on September 12 that it had provided a condolence payment of 30 million won to the family of the late Lee Jaeseok, a 34-year-old sergeant from the Incheon Coast Guard, who died while rescuing a man in his 70s stranded in the tidal flats near Yeongheungdo, Ongjin County, Incheon. At approximately 3:30 a.m. on September 11, Sergeant Lee removed his own life jacket to give to the stranded individual during the rescue near Ggotseom, Yeongheungdo. After completing the rescue, he was swept away by the incoming tide while swimming back and tragically lost his life.
An S-Oil representative stated, "We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray for the late officer who suffered a tragic accident while dedicating himself to saving a precious life. We hope this condolence payment will provide some support in overcoming their grief and continuing a stable life."
