Gwangju City Imposes 96.4 Billion Won in Regular Property Tax for September 2025
Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on September 12 that it has imposed and notified a total of approximately 219,000 cases of regular property tax for September 2025 (second installment for residential properties and land), amounting to 96.4 billion won.
Property tax is levied on owners of residential properties and land as of the tax base date (June 1). To ease the tax burden on payers, property tax for residential properties is split into two equal installments, billed in July and September, while property tax for land is billed in full in September.
The payment deadline for this round of property tax is September 30, 2025. If payment is not made by the deadline, a 3% late payment penalty will be imposed. In addition, if the tax amount exceeds 450,000 won, an additional late payment penalty of 0.66% per month can be charged for up to 60 months.
Property tax can be paid at the counters and CD/ATM machines of all banks nationwide, as well as with any credit card. Payment and inquiry are possible even without a paper bill. Taxpayers can also easily pay from home or work using the local tax payment guidance system (ARS: 142211), the Wetax website (www.wetax.go.kr), or mobile devices. Payments can also be made conveniently without transfer fees by using a local tax deposit account.
However, for ARS payments, there may be difficulties due to high traffic on the last day of September, which is the payment deadline. Therefore, taxpayers are advised to pay before the deadline or use various other payment methods such as Wetax or CD/ATM.
