Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on September 9 that it had selected three recipients for the 2nd Pocheon City Youth Awards for 2025.
This year's awardees are: Juyong Hyun (31, male) in the Socioeconomic Section; Hyerin Yoon (40, female) in the Culture and Sports Section; and Chanhee Park (43, male) in the Social Welfare Section.
Juyong Hyun, the recipient in the Socioeconomic Section, is a young farmer affiliated with the Pocheon City 4-H Association. He manages eco-friendly certified farmland and participates in the public meal distribution system, providing a stable supply of food to the local community. He has also been recognized for his ongoing contributions to community development through rural environmental protection campaigns and donation events.
Hyerin Yoon, the recipient in the Culture and Sports Section, founded a local book club in 2019 and has since led efforts to revitalize book clubs throughout Pocheon City. As the head of the Pocheon Book Club Network, she has actively promoted initiatives such as the "Book Club Space Sharing Project" and "Neighborhood Book Day" in collaboration with the Pocheon City Library, making significant contributions to the development of the local reading culture and establishing Pocheon as a city of humanities.
Chanhee Park, the recipient in the Social Welfare Section, has worked as a social worker since 2010, dedicating himself to improving senior welfare by addressing welfare blind spots for the elderly and providing socialization education programs for seniors. He has also been highly regarded for his active involvement in six organizations, including the Community Social Security Council and the Youth Policy Committee, leading efforts to enhance welfare for various age groups.
Mayor Baek Younghyeon of Pocheon City stated, "The recipients of this year's Pocheon City Youth Awards have made significant contributions to the development of our community through their exceptional dedication and love for their hometown. We will continue to actively discover and support outstanding young talents who strive for excellence in their respective fields to help shape the future of Pocheon City together."
Meanwhile, Pocheon City plans to present the Youth Awards at the commemorative ceremony for the 6th Pocheon City Youth Festival, which will be held at Pocheon Sports Complex on October 11.
