View original imageThree hospitals in South Korea have been named among the world's top 10 cancer hospitals by the American news weekly Newsweek.
According to the "World's Best Specialized Hospitals 2026" rankings in 12 clinical fields released by Newsweek on September 10 (local time), Samsung Medical Center in Seoul ranked third in the cancer category, following Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center, both in the United States. Asan Medical Center in Seoul ranked fourth, and Seoul National University Hospital placed eighth.
Among the top 10 cancer hospitals, four are in the United States, three are in South Korea, and France, the United Kingdom, and Canada each have one hospital represented.
Asan Medical Center entered the top 10 in six specialties-the most among domestic hospitals-including cancer (4th), endocrinology (4th), gastroenterology (4th), neurology (6th), urology (6th), and orthopedics (8th).
Seoul National University Hospital ranked second in the world in urology, following Cleveland Clinic in the United States, moving up two spots from last year. The hospital also ranked within the top 10 in endocrinology (5th) and cancer (8th), making a total of three specialties in the top 10.
Samsung Medical Center also made the top 10 in three specialties: cancer (3rd), gastroenterology (5th), and urology (10th). Severance Hospital ranked ninth in orthopedics.
The rankings were based on evaluations by tens of thousands of medical professionals in 30 countries, commissioned by Newsweek to global marketing firm Statista.
