Prosecutors Investigate Singer Jeong Dongwon for Unlicensed Driving at Age 16
Singer Jeong Dongwon is under investigation by prosecutors for allegedly driving a car without a license. On September 11, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that Jeong is being investigated on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (unlicensed driving).
Jeong is accused of driving a car without a license in a provincial city in 2023. According to the Road Traffic Act, individuals can obtain a driver's license from the age of 18 (or 16 for a motorized bicycle). Born in 2007, Jeong was not old enough at the time to acquire a driver's license.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, which had been investigating the case, referred Jeong to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office earlier this year. The case was subsequently transferred to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office, considering Jeong's registered address and other factors.
