Namyangju City Increases Supplementary Budget by 360.2 Billion Won... Focus on Livelihood Stability and Strengthening Future Growth Foundation
2.7973 Trillion Won, Up 14.78% from the First Supplementary Budget
On September 11, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) submitted the second supplementary budget proposal for 2025 to the City Council, increasing the budget by 360.2 billion won.

View original imageThis supplementary budget totals 2.7973 trillion won, up 14.78% from the first supplementary budget. In line with the national supplementary budget policy, the focus is on revitalizing the local economy and implementing projects that citizens can directly feel.
With this supplementary budget, the general account increases by 232.8 billion won to 2.4002 trillion won, and the special account rises by 127.4 billion won to 397.1 billion won.
The city plans to enhance the effectiveness of fiscal management and establish a foundation for sustainable growth by making balanced investments across various sectors, including livelihood recovery consumption coupons and railway operations.
The largest portion is allocated to the recovery of the local economy, with a total of 133.1 billion won. This includes 120.4 billion won for livelihood recovery consumption coupons and 12.6 billion won to support the issuance of the Namyangju Love Gift Certificate, aiming to inject real vitality into the stagnant local economy.
Additionally, 28.3 billion won is allocated for expanding transportation infrastructure. This includes 8.9 billion won for the operation of the Jinjeop Line and Byeollae Line railways, and 5.1 billion won for supporting metropolitan and city buses, which is expected to improve transportation convenience and accessibility for citizens.
In the urban development and maintenance sector, a total of 17.5 billion won is allocated, including 5 billion won for establishing a hydrogen city and 4.6 billion won for urban regeneration and neighborhood park development in Hwado-eup. For strengthening the city’s safety net, 4 billion won is allocated for disaster prevention projects and 3.1 billion won for improving pedestrian environments on school routes, totaling 9.2 billion won.
Furthermore, to expand sports and cultural infrastructure, 7.2 billion won is allocated for the construction of an artificial climbing wall and sports facilities in Dasan-dong, and 7 billion won for the construction of the Pyeongnae Sports and Culture Center, totaling 24.6 billion won. In the welfare sector, a total of 32 billion won is allocated, including 14.6 billion won for basic pensions and elderly care benefits, and 2.2 billion won for infant and toddler childcare support.
Notably, the city has allocated an additional 10 billion won for the new city hall construction fund to lay the foundation for a future-oriented self-sustaining city, aiming to raise a total of 110 billion won by the end of the year.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "The second supplementary budget focuses on stabilizing livelihoods and strengthening the safety net for citizens in response to the national supplementary budget, with an emphasis on improving citizens' quality of life through transportation infrastructure expansion and laying the groundwork for future growth. We will continue to enhance fiscal efficiency and deliver tangible results that citizens can experience."
