Commendations, Social Welfare Awards, and Donation Presentations

Chungnam Province has pledged to encourage social welfare workers who quietly dedicate themselves in the field, promising to improve their working conditions and protect their rights and interests. At the 26th Chungnam Social Welfare Day ceremony held on September 11, the province emphasized its achievements in boosting morale at social welfare sites through awards and donation presentations, as well as expanding on-site support despite fiscal austerity.
The event proceeded in the following order: donation presentation, commendations for outstanding contributors to social welfare, and the 19th Chungnam Social Welfare Awards ceremony.
In particular, the donations were prepared by the social welfare councils of all 14 cities and counties in the province to support vulnerable groups affected by recent heavy rainfall. The funds will be delivered to recovery sites through the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea.
Commendations for outstanding contributors were awarded to Kim Daejin, an official at the Hongseong-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Hongseong County, and Im Hongbin, Senior Vice President of the Cheongyang County Social Welfare Council.
The Social Welfare Awards were presented to two organizations-Geumgang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center and Namyang Dairy Products Cheonan New Plant-as well as to seven individuals, including Kim Deokrae, CEO of Nonsan Mental Health Care Facility.
Governor Kim stated, "As welfare services become increasingly complex and diverse, the dedication of workers is immense," adding, "The province is doing its utmost to improve working conditions and treatment."
Despite fiscal tightening, the province significantly increased support for the 'Good Neighbors Project,' raising the funding from 10 million won in 2022 to 78 million won in 2024.
Additionally, the province promoted improvements in the wage system for facilities that did not comply with Ministry of Health and Welfare wage standards. In May, it institutionalized the protection of workers' rights and enhancement of professionalism by enacting the 'Chungcheongnam-do Social Workers Association Support Ordinance.'
