Jung-gu Seoul to Host Direct Market for Local Produce with Discounts Up to 55% on September 16-17
Jung-gu District in Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gilseong) will operate a direct transaction market in front of the Jung-gu District Office from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on September 16 and 17, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
This market has been organized to provide residents with agricultural and specialty products from across the country at affordable prices, delivered directly from the producers, and to help farmers secure sales channels. The event will feature 29 companies from 17 cities and counties, including Yeongdong in North Chungcheong Province, Buan in North Jeolla Province, Mungyeong in North Gyeongsang Province, and Sokcho in Gangwon Province, offering more than 170 items such as apples, Korean beef, pine nuts, honey, salted seafood, and bellflower root syrup.
The products will be sold at discounts of up to 55% compared to regular market prices, and both card payments and Onnuri gift certificates will be accepted. The event venue will also host special time-limited sales, a guessing-the-weight-of-produce game, a songpyeon (Korean rice cake) making activity, and trot music performances. Each day, the first 300 visitors who purchase more than 30,000 won worth of goods will receive a complimentary gift sponsored by the Commercial District Development Center.
The participating vendors will donate a portion of their proceeds to the Community Chest of Korea, and Jung-gu District plans to continue providing information about these companies through its AI administrative service, "Naepyeon Jung-gu," even after the market concludes.
