Establishing Vietnam's First 400kV Production Facility
Korea Vina, a subsidiary of Korea Electric Wire, has announced plans to build Vietnam's first 400kV-class extra-high voltage cable manufacturing plant, with authorities in Dong Nai Province set to provide active support.
On September 11, Korea Electric Wire stated that it held discussions with the authorities of Dong Nai Province regarding the construction of Korea Vina's extra-high voltage cable plant.
Dong Nai Province, located near Ho Chi Minh City in southern Vietnam, is a key industrial hub. Thanks to its geographical advantages, abundant industrial complexes, and excellent infrastructure, it is considered a central location for major manufacturing and power infrastructure investments in Vietnam.
This discussion took place during a visit to Dong Nai Province by Junseok Kim, Vice President of Management at Korea Electric Wire; Eungseo Kim, Executive Director of Management Planning at Korea Electric Wire; and Seungho Choi, Head of Korea Vina Corporation. They met with Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Dong Nai Province, and other officials.

The company and Dong Nai Province officials also discussed ways to support local administrative procedures and infrastructure to ensure the smooth start and completion of the plant's construction.
Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Dong Nai Province, said, "This investment is a very important and meaningful decision that will greatly contribute to the expansion of Vietnam's power transmission and distribution network," adding, "Dong Nai Province plans to actively support Korea Vina's business investment so that it can proceed smoothly and quickly."
On August 13, Korea Electric Wire announced that Korea Vina would build Vietnam's first 400kV-class extra-high voltage cable manufacturing plant. The new plant, with an investment of approximately 75 billion won, will be established in the Long Thanh Industrial Complex in Dong Nai Province, where Korea Vina's existing high-voltage and medium- to low-voltage plants are located. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2026, with operations targeted to start in 2027.
Through the establishment of this plant, Korea Vina aims to respond to the growing demand for extra-high voltage cables in Vietnam and expand exports to global markets such as Europe, the Americas, and ASEAN, with the goal of achieving annual export sales of over 100 million dollars. The company also plans to contribute to job creation by hiring more than 100 additional local employees, increasing its current workforce of about 300.
A representative from Korea Electric Wire said, "By working closely with Dong Nai Province, we will ensure the smooth construction of the plant and supply high-performance, high-quality extra-high voltage cables to contribute to Vietnam's infrastructure development. With this investment, we aim to foster Korea Vina as a global hub for extra-high voltage cable production, following our Dangjin cable plant."
