Going forward, both parties will form a regular consultative body to discuss mutually beneficial measures for a healthy publishing distribution environment and ways to promote reading. Coupang, which has expanded its book distribution business, has previously sparked controversy by demanding a certain percentage of transaction amounts from companies with increased sales, in addition to contractually agreed sales commissions. Through the regular consultative body, the two sides plan to seek mutually beneficial solutions to these issues.
They will also cooperate to prevent and eradicate the distribution of illegal books. The parties agreed to share information on domestic and international pirated materials, establish response systems, and carry out awareness-raising activities together.
In addition, as part of their social contribution efforts, they will engage in donation activities for marginalized groups and underserved regions with limited access to books, and will join forces in major book fairs and various related events.
