Kim Dongbin: "We Will Strengthen Cooperation with Relevant Agencies to Expand Transportation Infrastructure"

The Special Committee for Completing the Future Strategy Capital of Sejong City Council, chaired by Kim Dongbin, held its sixth meeting on September 8. During the meeting, the committee received a report from the Director of the Transportation Bureau on the current status of major transportation policies for completing the future strategy capital, and discussed future response measures.

The committee identified the following as key agenda items: attracting a heavy ion accelerator cancer treatment center, establishing a new KTX Sejong Station, expediting the launch of the metropolitan express railway (CTX), opening the Sejong-Cheongju Expressway ahead of schedule, and developing a national industrial complex.

In particular, the committee focused on concrete strategies for expanding the metropolitan transportation network in the Chungcheong region.

The administrative executive branch reported, "We will accelerate the establishment of the Chungcheong megacity by commencing construction of the metropolitan railway connecting Daejeon, Sejong, Jochiwon, and Cheongju Airport as early as possible." They also stated, "Based on the business plan to be released after the completion of the private investment feasibility study in the second half of this year, we will review the need for new stations and the construction of transfer centers."

The committee plans to work closely with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth implementation of core projects, including the development of transportation infrastructure, the creation of a national industrial complex, and the attraction of a heavy ion accelerator cancer treatment center. The committee's term of activity will continue until June 30 of next year.

The Special Committee for Completing the Future Strategy Capital consists of eight members: Chairman Kim Dongbin, Vice Chairman Lee Hyunjung, and members Kim Gwangwoon, Kim Chungsik, Kim Hyosook, An Sinil, Yeo Mijeon, and Yoon Jisung.

Chairman Kim Dongbin stated, "In order for Sejong to become a hub city for balanced national development, it is essential to expand transportation infrastructure, including the timely implementation of the CTX. We will strengthen cooperation with the central government, the National Assembly, and local governments in the Chungcheong region to improve transportation conditions that citizens can truly feel, and will actively promote the project to the public and make recommendations to the government."
