View original imageThe purpose of this agreement is to open school facilities, such as playgrounds and gymnasiums, to citizens, thereby expanding opportunities for participation in sports for all and fostering a healthy local community.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, Seo Eunkyung, Superintendent of Guri Namyangju Office of Education, Kim Hangho, Principal of Namyangju Donggok Elementary School, and Choi Hyesuk, Principal of Pyeongnae Middle School, who all signed the agreement. Principals Kim Hangho and Choi Hyesuk represented 19 schools participating in the facility opening initiative.
Under the agreement, the city will provide budget support for the maintenance and management of sports facilities, including electricity, cleaning, and heating and cooling costs necessary for the operation of open school facilities. The Office of Education will offer administrative cooperation to ensure smooth operation at each school. Each school will actively cooperate in opening their facilities to citizens to expand public access.
The city expects that, through this agreement, citizens will be able to enjoy sports activities in their daily lives, leading to increased participation in community sports. In addition, the city plans to promote various initiatives to utilize school facilities as venues for intergenerational communication.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Opening up school facilities not only provides citizens with spaces for sports in daily life but also serves as a model for mutual growth within the local community. The city will continue to actively support the opening of school facilities to realize a healthy city in Namyangju."
