Ecopro HN Begins Construction of Third-Generation "Honeycomb Catalyst" Plant with 23.6 Billion Won Investment
Mass Production Targeted for Late 2026 at Chopyeong Site in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province
Responding to Surging Demand for Greenhouse Gas Reduction in Semiconductor and Display Industries
Supported by Government Carbon Neutrality Initiatives... Moving to Secure Market Leadership
Ecopro HN has announced plans to build a dedicated factory for the mass production of its "honeycomb catalyst," a core technology for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As demand for greenhouse gas reduction in the semiconductor and display industries surges, this investment aims to lead the next-generation catalyst market.
On September 8, Ecopro HN stated that it will invest a total of 23.6 billion won to establish a honeycomb catalyst production line at its Chopyeong site in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of next year, with full-scale mass production set to begin at the end of 2026. The Chopyeong site, which was completed last year to diversify into secondary battery and semiconductor materials businesses, will also serve as an outpost for the company’s environmental business through this investment.

Its honeycomb structure triples the reaction surface area, and it achieves a greenhouse gas decomposition rate of 99%. In particular, it is effective in converting persistent greenhouse gases such as perfluorocarbons (PFCs), which are generated during semiconductor and display manufacturing processes, into environmentally friendly substances.
Additionally, Ecopro HN plans to introduce a reprocessing technology to recycle used catalysts as "composite heat storage units" instead of disposing of them. These heat storage units capture and reuse the heat generated during the greenhouse gas reduction process, resulting in significant energy savings. The company expects that applying this technology will extend the catalyst’s life cycle and minimize waste generation.
Kim Jongseop, CEO of Ecopro HN, stated, "Our goal is to minimize environmental pollution throughout the entire process, from catalyst production to disposal," adding, "In line with the government’s carbon neutrality policy, we will actively create new business opportunities in both domestic and international markets."
