President Lee's Approval Rating Rises for Third Consecutive Week
Democratic Party at 44.6%, People Power Party at 36.2% in Party Support Poll
A public opinion poll has found that President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating for his administration has risen for three consecutive weeks.
According to a poll released by Realmeter on September 8 (conducted at the request of Energy Economy News from September 1 to 5, targeting 2,519 eligible voters aged 18 and over nationwide, using an automated wireless telephone response system, with a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and a response rate of 4.1%), President Lee's approval rating was 56.0%, up 2.4 percentage points from the previous week. The percentage of respondents with a negative assessment of his administration was 39.2%, down 3.1 percentage points from the previous week.
Realmeter analyzed, "The declaration of a drought disaster in Gangneung, the classification of wage arrears as a serious crime, and directives to address regional price gouging-policies directly related to the livelihoods of ordinary citizens-appear to have had a positive impact."
In a separate party support survey (conducted at the request of Energy Economy News from September 4 to 5, targeting 1,005 eligible voters aged 18 and over nationwide, using an automated wireless telephone response system, with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and a response rate of 4.2%), support for the Democratic Party of Korea fell by 2.1 percentage points from the previous week to 44.6%, while support for the People Power Party rose by 0.1 percentage points to 36.2%.
The gap in support between the two parties narrowed from 10.6 percentage points last week to 8.4 percentage points this week.
