The event began with a pre-ceremony performance by the Gimcheon Municipal Gugak Orchestra, followed by awards for distinguished contributors and a group performance. Participants voiced their aspirations for a discrimination-free community under the slogan, "A gender-equal society where everyone is respected, Gimcheon that communicates, a future we build together."
In particular, the lobby featured a promotional booth operated by the Citizens’ Participation Group for Women-Friendly Cities (led by Bae Jeonghee), where members shared the results of their activities and gathered feedback from citizens through surveys. The event was praised as a "site of participation and communication," going beyond a simple commemorative ceremony.
Kim Hyeyoung, President of the Gimcheon City Women’s Association Council, stated, "Gender equality is not only about guaranteeing individual rights but also serves as the foundation for strengthening the region’s future competitiveness. I hope a culture of mutual respect takes root throughout Gimcheon."
Mayor Baek Nakho also emphasized, "Gender equality is a core value for building a discrimination-free community. With this event as a catalyst, we will expand practical efforts in citizens’ daily lives and create a Gimcheon where everyone can smile together."
Building on this commemorative event, Gimcheon City plans to accelerate the realization of an equal city where all citizens are respected by continuing to expand women-friendly city initiatives and work-life balance policies.
