Woman in Her 40s Arrested for Stealing Money and Assaulting Foreign Female Tourist at Vacation Spot
A woman in her 40s was arrested by police for stealing money from the bag of a teenage female foreign tourist and assaulting her at a vacation spot.
Busan Suyeong Police Station announced on the 5th that they had detained a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A, on charges of attempted robbery.
According to police, on the evening of September 2 at around 8:00 p.m., Ms. A rummaged through the bag of a teenage female foreign tourist, identified as Ms. B, which had been placed on a bench at Gwangalli Beach, and stole 180,000 won in cash before fleeing the scene.
When Ms. B witnessed the theft and chased after her, Ms. A responded by slapping Ms. B in the face and assaulting her.
During the incident, a disturbance broke out, and two district office officials in charge of maintaining order at the site subdued Ms. A and handed her over to the police.
