View original imageThe Korean Red Cross announced on September 4 that Chairman Kim Cheolsu donated 10 million won to support Gangneung citizens struggling with a severe drought.
On this day, Chairman Kim visited Gangneung City Hall and handed the donation to Honggyu Kim, mayor of Gangneung, agreeing to join forces to overcome the damage caused by the drought. The donation will be used to provide drinking water for Gangneung residents. Chairman Kim also visited vulnerable households in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, to offer comfort to residents and deliver emergency food kits and bottled water. In addition, he visited the Gangneung Ice Arena, the central location for bottled water distribution, to inspect the collection, sorting, and delivery of relief supplies, and encouraged Korean Red Cross volunteers working on-site.

The Korean Red Cross is delivering drinking water and emergency food such as ready-to-eat meals to each household in Gangneung. In response to a request from Gangneung City, starting September 5, the organization will also provide laundry support for firefighters working tirelessly to supply drinking water, using a mobile laundry vehicle.
