Youngjin College Department of Business and Accounting Convergence Wins Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award at National Computerized Accounting Competition
Sweeping 10 Top Honors Including the Grand Prize
Students from the Department of Business and Accounting Convergence at Youngjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) demonstrated their strength in the professional accounting and tax field by sweeping a total of 10 awards, including the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, the Grand Prize, the Excellence Award, and the Special Award at the 31st National Computerized Accounting Competition.
This competition, hosted by the Korea Computerized Accounting Education Association and sponsored by government agencies such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the National Tax Service, attracted over 2,000 participants, including high school students, university students, and the general public from across the country, who competed in computerized accounting and tax skills.

View original imageAt this competition, Son Mingyu, a second-year student in the Department of Business and Accounting Convergence at Youngjin College, won the highest honor-the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award-in the university and general division of computerized tax accounting, earning the overall grand prize in this category.
Student Park Geonwoo received the Excellence Award (President of Kyungnam University Award) in the Level 2 Computerized Tax Accounting category, while students Kim Jaekeun, Kim Soonghyuk, Park Jiseon, Kim Junseo, and Jang Songmi received Special Awards and Excellence Awards in the fields of practical tax accounting and computerized tax accounting.
Notably, Son Mingyu was recognized not only for his individual achievement but also for winning the Excellence Award in the Level 1 Practical Corporate Accounting category and the Model Student Award, demonstrating both professional competence and dedication. Professor Kim Jaeseok, the supervising professor, was also honored with the Instructor Award in recognition of his contribution to the students' success.
Son Mingyu said, "I am truly delighted to have received the grand prize at this competition. This experience has given me confidence, and I believe it will be a great help as I prepare for the certified tax accountant exam." He also expressed his gratitude to his supervising professor.
Meanwhile, the Department of Business and Accounting Convergence has consistently achieved outstanding results in national competitions each year through its field-oriented customized education and national certification programs. In particular, at the National NCS Accounting Information Practice Competition, which is open to both two-year and four-year colleges as well as groups and individuals, the department has ranked first among junior colleges for many years and, in the practical division, has achieved first place for three consecutive years, including among four-year universities, setting an unprecedented record.
