Governor Kim Youngrok to Visit Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on the 4th to Establish Friendly Relations
A Platform for Cooperation in Culture, Tourism, and Economy
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, will visit Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, for four days starting on the 4th, to establish a foundation for cooperation in various fields such as culture, tourism, and economy, where exchanges between Korea and Mongolia are active, and to expand the Jeonnam brand.
On the first day of his visit, the 4th, he will hold a tree-planting event at Terelj National Park together with the Mongolian Forest Agency. To commemorate the friendship exchange agreement between the two regions, 1,000 trees will be planted in connection with the Mongolian government's ongoing "One Billion Trees Planting" initiative. The event will also serve as an opportunity to share the significance of responding to the climate crisis and to discuss cooperation measures between the two regions. Through this, Jeonnam Province aims to strengthen the friendship between the two countries and enhance its image as a leading region in eco-friendliness and sustainability on the international stage.
On the 5th, Jeonnam Province will sign a friendship exchange agreement with Ulaanbaatar City. Through this agreement, Jeonnam Province and Ulaanbaatar City plan to expand practical cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, agriculture and livestock, as well as culture and tourism.
A Jeonnam Province tourism briefing session will also be held, attended by the president of the Mongolian Tourism Association and local travel agencies. Until last year, regular ferry services connecting the two regions led to active tourism exchanges. Taking this opportunity, Jeonnam Province plans to introduce its unique tourism resources-such as its seas and islands, which are rare in Mongolia-and to sign business agreements with local travel agencies to further expand tourism exchanges.
On the 6th, Kim Youngrok will participate in the "2025 Korea Week Event," co-hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Mongolia and Ulaanbaatar City. At the opening ceremony, Governor Kim will deliver a congratulatory speech, followed by traditional Korean performances such as the fan dance and pungmul by the Jeonnam Provincial Korean Traditional Music Orchestra. Jeonnam-based companies in the agricultural, fisheries, and cosmetics sectors will operate promotional booths at the event, seeking opportunities to enter the local market.
